Georgia Power offers several different rate structures, each of which will provide energy savings from solar production differently. Georgia Power is your go-to source for all the information you need to determine if solar is right for you.
At this time, Georgia Power has reached 5,000 combined applications counting towards the RNR-Monthly Netting limit. This includes applications associated with projects that are now online, pending completion, and in progress. New projects that meet all RNR program requirements and receive Permission to Operate (PTO) will be placed on RNR-Instantaneous Netting. Customers on RNR-Instantaneous Netting will remain eligible to transfer to RNR-Monthly Netting, until approved RNR-Monthly Netting limit is reached.

Renewable & Nonrenewable Tariff (RNR)
For small generators ≤ 250 kW
Residential customers may install a system with a peak generating capacity of less than or equal to 10 kW AC. Commercial customers may install a system with a peak generating capacity of less than or equal to 250 kW AC. Commercial systems between 100 kW AC and 250 kW AC may not exceed one hundred and twenty-five percent (125%) of the preceding year’s metered peak demand of the premises that the generator serves. As of January 2020, the RNR tariff provides two programs for crediting customers for excess energy generated by the participating customer’s solar system:
RNR Monthly Netting – excess energy generated by a participating customer's solar panels will be summed on a monthly basis and used to reduce their total monthly energy consumption. Excess generation that exceeds a customer's total monthly energy usage will be credited at the annual Solar Avoided Energy Cost Rate. This program is limited to 5,000 eligible participants as detailed in the RNR-10 Tariff approved in June 2020. As of July 26, 2021 this program is fully subscribed, therefore the Company is no longer accepting applications.
RNR Instantaneous Netting – excess energy generated by a participating customer’s solar panels are credited at the annual Solar Avoided Energy Cost Rate per kilowatt hour (kWh), summed on a monthly basis and then will be used to reduce the customer’s total monthly bill. This program is currently open for participation as further detailed in the RNR-10 Tariff.

Energy Offset (EO)
Energy Offset is designed for residential or commercial customers who would like to maximize the size of the solar installation, in order to offset their energy usage. Systems are not designed to push energy back onto the grid, and will not be compensated for any excess energy that is generated. Any customer that has solar installed behind their meter who has not elected to participate in one of our other programs, will be automatically enrolled in this program. Customers are required to register their systems and ensure they meet the Interconnection Requirements. Please register and apply for this program using PowerClerk.
